Title: m.m.m. Official Momoi Fanclub
Post by: paranda on 2009-04-18, 15:16:26
What is m.m.m.
m.m.m. is the official fan club managed by Momoi's office, Right Gauge. (http://rg-music.com/momoi/)
This fan board is not associated with them in any way and is not responsible for anything related to your actual fanclub membership.

Note: For any email addresses shown in these instructions, replace # with @

What do I get for joining?
Membership card with your name handwritten by Momoi.
Periodical m.m.m. newsletter (usually in Japanese, but sometimes in English for big announcements)
Priority for ticket purchases
Participation in fan club events, tours, vacation packages
Special access to RightGauge website's exclusive reports

Fans also occasionally receive bonus gifts in the mail such as a yearly photo calendar but this is not guaranteed.

How much does it cost?
The initiation fee is 1500 yen and membership fees are 5000 yen per year.

How do I sign up?

Right Gauge has a guide posted (http://rg-music.com/momoi/?eid=408) for foreign m.m.m. applications.

Step 1. Draft email to "info#right-gauge.jp"

Subject: Application for admission "m.m.m.
Email body
: Full name
: Shipping address
: Zip-code
: E-mail address
: Remittance day

Hold onto it until you have completed your payment

Step 2. There are now two methods to paying: Paypal or International money order. Please choose one of the two methods.

2-a. Paypal method
This one is easy. If you a PayPal (https://www.paypal.com) account, you can use it to send a payment of 6500yen to "info#right-gauge.jp"

2-b. Money Order method
Buy an international direct money order to Japan for 6500 yen (about $65) and send it to the following address. Paying in USD and EUR is fine based on experience if you cannot buy in JPY directly. Just apply the FX rate plus 3% to 4%.

      1-38-7-306, Akatsutsumi,
      Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan
      ZIP code:156-0044
      Right Gauge Co.,Ltd.

Put your name on it and such and mail it out. Wait 1 - 3 weeks depending on what kind of shipping you used for your payment to arrive.

Step 3. Send the membership email.

Step 4. If accepted, Right Gauge will reply to you with your membership number. You are now an official member at this point. They will send you your membership card, and depending on the time of year, some bonus gifts. It could take a while since they have to get Momoi to write your name down.

Step 5. Post here so we can welcome you and give you a little forums bonus too (m.m.m. icon under your name ;) )

How do I renew membership?
Right Gauge will email you on the month that your membership ends with a reminder to renew. Just send them 5000 yen using the same method you used in Step 2, and include your membership number as a note in your payment.

Help! I lost my card!
You can email info#right-gauge.jp for a replacement. New card fee is 1000 yen and yes, Momoi will still write your name for replacements.

Can I join in person at Momoi's overseas events?
Most of the Canadian fans signed up directly at Momoi's merchandise table during Anime North and paid in Canadian dollars. And at least 3 people here on this board joined on very short notice, just scribbling their info on scraps of paper when meeting RG staff at restaurants or in the hallways.

It seems that I found a way how to send money to Japan, but the amount of money on our money order (http://www.cpost.cz/img/poukazky/eurogiro_rijen_2008.gif) can be only in EUR. So I should probably send a mail to RG first and ask, if it's OK. Right? Or is here someone who paid in EUR before? Well, at post office gave me also some Western Union money order where the amount of money can be in JPY, but there's only place for recipient's name, city and country. I have no idea, where the street should be written. O_o

The last money order I sent to RG was in US funds; I just sent enough to cover the exchange rate plus a few percent. You just need to remember that whatever bank they use will charge a certain percentage for the currency exchange.

However, it probably would've been better if I emailed them first and agreed on an exchange rate in case things went bad. It can't hurt to email them to make sure.

I believe kumasanmk paid with EUR from France with no issues so he's a good person to answer on this. I'd use your post office's standardized/national money order instead of Western Union though.

Yep, I paid with EUR. I sent more than the fee value (70€) to be sure. But as I sent to much, m.m.m folks sent me back the 21 Century English Ver. album with my member card to cover the surplus.

My post office is okay. But then again, I always go right when they open and there aren't too many people. Plus, I have relatives that work in the post office, so I just A: Quiz them on any questions I have and B: Have them ship packages out for me if possible. 8)

Right Gauge has made official English guidelines for joining!! (http://rg-music.com/momoi/fanclub-for-overseas/)

:o Great! I guess there has been lots of interest in the club!

They also started offering exclusive online content for members (finally!)
There is a URL and a password in the e-mail. For those who can't read Japanese, the password is where it says "パスワード【         】"

I hope they start offering wallpapers and stuff like that on the site to members as well ;D
And make up a mascot character!!

I am still uneasy about mailing and post offices and things... these kinds of objects are always smarter than me.

I think they will use Mandichan's art *-* It's so cute... it's unusually cute.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the Anime North thread from last year that they had a setup so you could register for m.m.m. in person. Hopefully they will have the same option at Fanime. It makes sense, after all.

Yes, English version, coupled with a German version of Yume no Baton. It's on a CD single style release; maybe they'll bring that along to Fanime.

I'm glad they send you a reminder letter... I'm extremely liable to forget to renew.

Are there different card designs out? I think someone mentioned that in the future, they plan to have different designs for the cards, but the only one I know of so far is the orange colored one.

I was browsing around a little bit and just noticed that Right Gauge accepts PayPal for joining (http://global.rg-music.com/momoi/mmm/join-mmm/) and renewing (http://global.rg-music.com/momoi/mmm/renew-mmm/) memberships. Credit cards, via PayPal, too. You do still have to send an email after you send payment, to let them know what's going on.

When did they start doing that?

Your membership card will be sent by the international mail later "usually".
(Because Halko fills in your name on the membership card, it might take deliver one month or more.)

But, if you and the Right Gauge staff can meet in Anime Vegas, your membership card might be able to be passed.
Please call the Right Gauge staff in the hall.

Although I don't really understand what they mean by calling in the hall ?? I'm assuming contact them at the convention...I hope they can bring it!

It means you yell out in the hall. j/k

They have some interesting English at times. Understandable, but interesting.  ;D

Just identify yourself to the Right Gauge staff. We can help you find them (it's not too hard, where ever they're selling the shirts and whatnot, that's where the staff is going to be.  8) ). I wonder if that means they'll bring a blank card and a calendar set with them.

I think you have it right; you'll have to pay that Y1500 admission fee again.

I'm guessing that sentence means that if you don't renew, you're not really part of the official fan club anymore (you've seceded away!) and can't get the lower renewal fee price.

To me, the July page that has the writing "momo-i in Hawaii" looks like a picture of her near the convention center in San Jose, California with a FanimeCon banner above her hand. Anyone think that the setting of the picture is actually in Hawaii?

It's quite possible that the banner is for the Honolulu Festival. It's not like she wouldn't have lots of pictures from Hawaii to use. I wouldn't doubt it's in Hawaii. Too bad we can't see the license plate for the SUV there.  :P

There's some comments about a mistake on July photo.

I only read a second-handed comment about it in someone's Mixi entry, without the details, so I don't know what is wrong with it, but it's likely that the location is incorrect.

Well, I didn't get my calendar. I instead got a "calender".  ;D

(I check the last few years; it's always been spelled right on the actual calendar part, except this year. :P )

Ally's number is 1657 and Sally's is 1656! ☆

We've been wanting to get one for a long time now, so it feels really good to finally become real members~ (*´ω`*)

Member #1658 here  ;) Guess I was the first to sign up after the twins  :)

I also signed up at Anime Boston. It was pretty cool, since Momoi signed the card right there. I actually found this site looking for information about the fan club, since I haven't really gotten any emails/have any ideas what cool stuff membership gets you, etc.

Welcome to the club (so to speak  ;D ). Off the top of my head, joining the fan club gives you:

1. A desk calendar
2. Access to a special part of the website with event reports and photos.
3. Ability to buy certain concert tickets early and participate in certain special events. Not all that useful for foreign fan club members, but if you're headed to Japan around that time...well, it still might be difficult to buy the tickets (since it uses a standard system that isn't accessible to people outside of Japan for the most part). Special events are like fan club trips.
4. Support Momoi (and get that spiffy membership card)

5. Most importantly, a tag here signifying that you are a fan club member.  :P One of the admins will have to add that in.

They'll still honor #3 as long as you email them. Gin and I have used it a number of times to score handwritten tickets even when we couldn't use the website.

Since I got my first job in 2008 I've been wanting to join m.m.m. xD but always ended up spending my money on CDs and DVDs. Well, there's no excuse anymore, the other day I got 1707!
